Chapter 12

35. So, be dressed to work and keep your lamps burning to light the house. 36. Be like people who are waiting for their Lord to return from a wedding feast. They will open the door for Him the very moment he comes and knocks. 37. These slaves are blessed, because the Lord will find them watching when He returns. I tell you the truth. Their Lord will dress for work, tell them to sit down to eat, will come to the table and serve them. 38. They are blessed, even if their Lord comes at midnight or 3 o'clock in the morning and finds them waiting. 39. You know that the head of a household would not let a thief break into his house if he knew what hour the crook was coming.
