Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church White Oak, Cincinnati, Ohio The first services were conducted in a log cabin home on Gaines Road not too far from the present location. As nearly as can be determined the first worship services began prior to the year 1850. The first pastor was W. G. Polack who came to White Oak in September 1850. On June 4, 1851 a plot of land for a church was donated by Christian Beerman and his wife Christina. The church was constructed of stones gathered from the surrounding fields by members and hauled to the location by horses and wagons. The members often left their fields to keep the stone masons supplied with materials. In the year 1852 Pastor Polack was accepted as an advisory pastor in the Missouri Synod, however, the congregation did not join the Synod at that time, probably for the reason that its members were not all Lutherans. Some were Evangelicals. Pastor Polak left in 1854. Between 1854-1871 pastors of this congregation were unknown in Missouri Synod circles. It is assumed that the eleven pastors during this period were of the Ohio Synod. Not until the arrival of the Rev. Karl T. Zschoche in 1871 did the congregation become a member of the Missouri Synod. ______________________________________________________________ This text was converted to ascii format for Project Wittenberg by Debbie Harris and is in the public domain by permission of Rev.
